So far 2 of our market vendors have reported that their greenhouses are good, still standing! This is great news! Snow and wind still here this morning, but hopefully blue skies will appear soon.

Island Sunshine shared their recipe for Healthy Beans and Franks! All of the ingredients, except baking soda, can be found at the Farmers Market. How convenient is that!
Also, they suggest Margie's Veggie sausages for a vegetarian version.
Healthy Beans And Franks
1/2 cup Assorted Dry Beans from Natures Bounty
1 Tbsp Baking Soda
3 Island Taylored Meats Healthy Hotdogs, cut in 1/2 inch pieces
1 Tbsp J.J Stewart Garlic Sauce
3 Tbsp J.J Stewart blueberry BBQ sauce
1 Tbsp Maple Syrup
1 Tsp Sunshine Farm Garlic oil
Salt and pepper to taste - the Spice Lady has different varieties
Splash of Favorite Maritime hot sauce (Optional)
Wash beans and soak overnight in Water and Baking Soda, drain and boil with pinch of salt for approx 30 minutes, Drain water into a bowl and set aside.
Heat Oil in not stick fry Pan, sauté hotdogs until browned on all sides, add beans, 1/3 cup of water drained from beans, and all other ingredients, simmer on low heat for 5 -10 mins until sauce is thick and serve.
Makes about 1 1/2- 2 cups.
Recipe can be easily multiplied for more servings.
